Open Metronome

Help with your practice

Support

Open Metronome is developed by Alex Zamai. For help, bug reports, accessibility feedback, or privacy questions, email metronome@zamai.me.

Include your iPhone or iPad model, iOS version, the app version shown in Settings, and what happened. If the issue involves headphones, include their model. Screenshots are helpful, but please remove personal information before sending them.

Headphone and lock-screen controls

Enable Headphone controls in the app's Settings, then start the metronome once on screen. Controls depend on the headset and on how iOS routes media commands. Another audio app may take over those controls. If this happens, bring Open Metronome to the foreground and start it again.

Apple Shortcuts

Open the app once after installation. In Apple Shortcuts, add Start Metronome and choose a BPM, or use Start Metronome Preset with a saved preset. The action opens the app and starts playback. If a preset was deleted, select an existing one.

Custom click sounds

You can import a normal beat and an optional accented beat. Supported audio formats include WAV, AIFF, CAF, M4A, and MP3. Each sound must be no longer than one second. Use recordings you own or have permission to use.

Availability

The App Store release is in preparation. Open Metronome is planned as a free app with no ads or purchases. It supports iPhone and iPad running iOS 17 or later.
